From Inception to Commercialization

One of the major obstacles facing medical device inventors is navigating the complex maze of taking an idea from inception to the final stage of commercialization. GCMI, working closely with its founding member Saint Joseph’s Translational Research Institute (SJTRI), offers a full range of medical device development expertise and services. The organizations are located just two miles from each other in Midtown, Atlanta, offering full-service medical device development and commercialization services in an area thriving with innovation and entrepreneurship.

GCMI has invested in the most sought-after equipment that facilitates the development of prototypes and early stage models. Its new facility hosts a state-of-the art 3D printer. The ProJet™ 6000 is the first crossover printer offering the latest utility of a 3D printer with print precision and performance quality of professional grade SLA® parts.

The Center has recently launched a quarterly educational series that brings together top medical device innovators and business leaders from throughout the country to hear presentations from thought leaders and to candidly discuss unique industry challenges. GCMI will open the education series to a broader audience among our Member organizations in 2013.

The GCMI Prototyping and Development Center officially opened in April 2012. We are beginning to work with innovators and companies on a broad range of development and commercialization projects.
