The Global Center for Medical Innovation (GCMI) is an independent, non-profit organization that has launched the Southeast’s first comprehensive medical device innovation center.

GCMI is bringing together core members of the medical device community, including universities, research centers, clinicians, established device companies, investors, and early-stage companies, with the goal of accelerating the commercialization of innovative medical technology.

Conveniently located in West Midtown near the Georgia Institute of Technology, GCMI has a 12,000 square foot prototyping design and development facility that is accelerating the commercialization of next-generation medical devices and technology. The Center offers design, engineering, rapid prototyping, full machine-shop capabilities and Class 10K & 100K cleanrooms.

In addition, GCMI has a robust and ever-growing network of experts -- from intellectual property, regulatory, quality systems and investors -- to help bring ideas from concept to market.

GCMI was one of six winners of the US Department of Commerce i6 Challenge focused on driving commercialization and innovation in the US in an effort to move great ideas from the lab to the patient, creating jobs and economic growth.

ATLANTA, GA, May 22, 2013 – The Global Center for Medical Innovation (GCMI), a comprehensive medical device innovation center featuring design, engineering and prototyping services, has signed a partnership agreement with West Tennessee Healthcare, one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare systems in the nation. The two organizations will work together to identify, develop and promote medical technology innovation in Jackson, TN, which is West Tennessee Healthcare’s headquarters.
